Thought leadership content that sells

Want to make fewer cold calls and get more business? Here's the secret: Publish content that showcases your expertise and character, drives social media engagement, and sets you apart from every other financial advisor who is competing for the same clients.

Why thought leadership content?

Financial services is a busy, competitive space. A strategic thought leadership content program can differentiate you from the pack -- with current clients and prospects. It can also be a primary input for your social media marketing and a platform for networking with non-competing professionals. Good content answers questions, shows expertise, introduces your personality, and gets people talking.

Having new content published regularly under your name also gives you something to talk about. You can use it in a newsletter as a value-add for existing client, as a lead generator or conversation starter with prospects, and as a demonstration of your expertise to support pitches for media appearances and interviews.

About your writer

My name is Catherine Brock and I have been writing financial content since the early-2000s. I am a regular contributor to Forbes, Yahoo Finance, and The Motley Fool. I have also been featured on the BBC World News, MSN Money, and USA Today. You can learn more about me and my content here.

Let's talk

Please use the form below to book a consultation. The rate is $200 hourly. I will send an invoice within 24 hours and payment is required prior to the meeting date. I am open for consultations Monday through Friday, noon to 3pm PT/1pm to 4pm MT/3pm to 5pm ET.

What to expect:

1. A walk-through of my content process
2. Probing questions to reveal the primary audiences for your content
3. Brainstorming on the right tone and voice for your content
4. Ideation of your high-priority topic areas
5. Tips and tricks on getting published and amplifying your content for real results
6. Opportunity to ask questions so you feel confident launching your own content program

You will have my undivided attention for the hour. There is no obligation to move forward with a content package, but if you do, your $200 will be applied to your first month.

Note I do not offer free consults anymore. Sadly, too many people have booked time to request a walk-through on how to get published in premium financial publications. While I can answer the question, I do not have the bandwidth to offer the advice freely to everyone who asks.

I'm not sure. Tell me more.

How are you selling your services today? Chances are, your sales process involves some or all of the following:

  • Asking current customers to refer friends and family
  • Hitting up networking events
  • Cold calling
  • Following up on referrals and warm leads
  • Holding free workshops
  • Pitching on social media

If you are doing just a few of these activities, you probably also feel an ongoing conflict between the time you spend selling and the time you spend serving your customers. And that means you need your marketing and sales function to be more efficient.

Good content can create marketing efficiencies by generating exposure while you're doing other things. Interesting, engaging, and expert-driven content reinforces other marketing initiatives in ways that feel helpful (not pushy) to your prospects.

The caveat is -- and it's a big one -- you must enjoy writing and be able to do it quickly. If you don't like to write, hire someone to do it for you. You can hire me or someone else. Either way, take the time to choose a professional, proven financial writer who knows how to design a cohesive content program that:

  • Provides content for your social media channels
  • Subtly reinforces your brand and marketing messaging
  • Invites sharing
  • Adds value to the services you provide
  • Answers questions your prospects and customers are asking
  • Demonstrates your expertise
  • Sets you apart from competing professionals
